Below are the details regarding the positions and responsibilities for the FOSS Club executive members, as well as the teams that members can join. Main Positions and Responsibilities
The following are the roles and responsibilities for club executive members:
- Student Coordinator - responsible for overall coordination and management of the FOSS club. This includes planning and organising club events, coordinating with other student organisations, managing the club budget, and overseeing the work of other executive members.
- Women In FOSS Lead - responsible for promoting and supporting women's participation in the FOSS club. This includes organising events and workshops focused on women in technology, advocating for the inclusion of women in club leadership positions, and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for women in the club.
- Secretary - responsible for taking minutes at meetings, managing club communications (emails, social media, etc.), and maintaining club records.
- Treasurer - responsible for managing the club budget, tracking expenses and income, and preparing financial reports.
- Event Coordinator - responsible for planning and organising club events, such as hackathons, coding competitions, and workshops.
- Outreach Coordinator - responsible for promoting the FOSS club to other students on campus and in the wider community. This includes creating marketing materials, reaching out to potential partners and sponsors, and coordinating outreach events.
- Technical Lead - responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of the club, such as website development, software development, and server management,etc.
- Education Lead - responsible for organising educational events and workshops focused on FOSS, such as tutorials, seminars, and talks.
- Faculty Coordinator / Adviser - serves as a guide and mentor for student leaders, assisting with project planning and execution, facilitating communication and collaboration, ensuring compliance with school policies, and promoting FOSS education and awareness.
Teams
Event Planning Team -
This team is responsible for organizing all club events, including hackathons, coding competitions, workshops, and social events. They work closely with the Event Coordinator and the Technical Lead to ensure that events are well-planned and executed.
Communications Team -
This team is responsible for managing the club's communications, including emails, social media accounts, and the club website. They work closely with the Secretary to ensure that all club members are up-to-date on the latest news and events.
Education Team -
This team is responsible for organizing educational events and workshops focused on FOSS. They work closely with the Education Lead to ensure that all events are well-planned and executed.
Outreach Team -
This team is responsible for promoting the FOSS club to other students on campus and in the wider community. They work closely with the Outreach Coordinator to ensure that the club is visible and accessible to everyone.
Technical Team -
This team is responsible for managing the technical aspects of the club, including website development, software development, and server management,etc. They work closely with the Technical Lead to ensure that all technical tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
Fundraising Team -
This team is responsible for raising funds for the club, through events, donations, and sponsorships. They work closely with the Treasurer to ensure that the club budget is sufficient and that all expenses are accounted for.
